Mental Monday #31: An Adjustable Lunatic

"An 'adjustable lunatic'?" "Yes, sir, an adjustable lunatic -- you may know I don't make a business of insanity  or I wouldn't be running at large here on the streets of the city." "Yes," he replied, "but you can't tell what kind and I can tell you the very trade you work at." The poems and short stories by James Whitcomb Riley are touching and inspiring.  An Adjustable Lunatic is one of my favorite stories because it reminds me that no matter what a person
looks like or how he behaves in society, we really don't know his private thoughts.

Empathy: One Heartbeat

Back in May 2014, I submitted this abstract painting in a reader challenge called "Put a Stamp On It" sponsored by Cloth Paper Scissors magazine.  This is what I wrote:
Empathy: A world where all humans are connected to one giant heartbeat and we feel each others joys, pleasures, and good deeds.  A world in which Peach on Earth is everywhere.  One Heart is an original textured abstract painting of a landscape with the flow of life woven throughout.
I did not win.  However, the idea of continuing to create art in which the flow of life is woven throughout our 7 continents and 5 oceans has stayed with me.  We are all connected.

In the Midst of things . . .

I've been channeling poems from the book Sonnets from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Browning. How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

Meeting Tim Gunn

Today when I was doing research at the Met in NYC, I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Gunn!
Impeccably dressed, Tim Gunn was very kind and generous with his time.
I can't wait for Thursday to see who wins Project Runway!
In the meantime, all I can say is, "Tim Gunn is truly great."
