Folger Shakespeare Library

Folger Shakespeare Library , located in the heart of Washington, D.C. is a haven for literature, art and theatre.  It was a pleasure to attend a private tour for researchers during their first week of opening. Fred Wilson's installation at the Folger, 2024 Fred Wilson's installation of a large ornate black glass mirror with the reflection of Queen Elizabeth I greeted us at the beginning of the exhibit. With more than 250,000 books and 55,000 manuscripts, the Folger Shakespeare Library has the world's largest Shakespeare collection.  Images from the books and manuscripts have been reproduced and placed decoratively all over the walls.   In the spaces of these images are tiny biographies of Shakespeare Scholars such as Dr. Ayanna Thompson . Many rarely seen items from the Folger collection are on exhibition and they also have a rotating exhibition.   The Folger shop has books and gifts for everyone!
