Lady of Letters, Part V

A Stamp's Silent Song
what stories do
you bring?
The back of one of my postcards
A postage stamp
can be the most
stunning image on
a letter sometimes.

When I began my postcard
series I wanted to use my
own art work for
the postage stamps.
I ordered mine online from

A selection of international postage stamps I used for my handmade papers
I have been collecting
postage stamps
for years and I have been
looking for ways to incorporate
them into my art.

Handmade papers with postage stamps and thread
has a really nice selection
of cancelled stamps
from all over the world.
They are reasonably priced!

There is nothing more grounding than walking through clouds.

52 Weeks of Printmaking on Textiles: Week 9

Vintage Velvet, Embroidery & Silkscreens This week's book See Us is about bringing to light that which has been in the dark.
See Us,  is also the title of the main poem in the book.  I silkscreened the poem on the textile page.  When the text was dry, I hand embroidered glass beads to the page.
To further the motif of "see us" I printed many of the images with a pale ink on the dark velvet.  This created haunting, ghost-like imagery. The finished book: The poetic interweaving of rare African textiles, modern fibers, original imagery, and poetry.
