100 Days of COVID-19, Day 35

My Art in the Time of a Pandemic

History at my finger tips.

The Spanish explorer with Spain's royal banner in the red background caught my attention.  The 1965 stamp appeared to be European, but it was issued in the United States.  How was this possible?  The stamp commemorated the St. Augustine, Florida settlement of 1565.  It was the first continuous permanent European (Spanish) settlement in the new world. Spain ceded Florida to the US in 1819.
