Today's stamp is from The Republic of Maldives. Issued on February 1, 1974, it is a multicolored offset lithographic print of Mercury-Atlas and astronaut John Glenn.
Mercury-Atlas (MA-6) was the first American orbital space flight, which took place February 20, 1962. It was piloted by John Glenn and operated by NASA as part of Project Mercury.
